The county is served by Rutherford County Schools and the schools within the city limits of Murfreesboro are served by the Murfreesboro City School System.  There may be grey areas with some of the school zones and city/county lines so if you're unsure of which school zone you're in please check with the school. For higher education, Murfreesboro is home to Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degrees, cultural events, and athletic competitions. As part of the Department of Veterans Affairs, this facility provides healthcare services tailored to military veterans. Vanderbilt Center for Women’s Health, located on 2909 Medical Center Parkway, is the primary Vanderbilt healthcare facility serving Murfreesboro, offering specialized women's health services, OB/GYN care, and other outpatient services. The Avenue Murfreesboro
The Avenue Murfreesboro, on Medical Center Parkway, opened in 2007 and was a game-changer for the retail and dining scene in Rutherford County. Clari Park, right off Medical Center Parkway, is a mixed-use development that's currently under construction. It's located at 2600 Roby Corlew Ln.  Several new restaurants, banks, retail stores, hotels, and apartments are planned in that area. Drake's, Cava, Whataburger, and Neighbors  have already opened.   

There are several other restaurants, retail and entertainment venues around Medical Center Parkway (locals will often refer to it as simply "Medical Center" ) that are not considered to be specifically in the Avenue or Clari Park.

Beyond The Medical Center Parkway are, Murfreesboro’s downtown district offers a charming mix of locally owned shops, artisanal boutiques, coffeehouses, and cozy cafes in a walkable, historic setting.
