Nashville's WeGo Public Transit offers bus routes throughout the city and surrounding areas, including limited rapid transit options. Murfreesboro, while having some local transportation services, relies more heavily on personal vehicles. The limited public transportation in Murfreesboro might necessitate a car for most residents, adding to the overall transportation budget. Nashville's more robust system offers more flexibility for those looking to minimize car dependency, but the convenience may come at a higher cost of living in other areas.

As of July 2025, the average cost of a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment in Nashville is significantly higher, estimated to be around $1,800 - $2,500 per month, depending on the neighborhood and amenities. For a 5-year-old, 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home, the price difference is also substantial. These are, of course, just averages, and prices can vary greatly.
